Summary
Covers the issue of Teaching Staff in MIS coming through to RM Unify as Non-Teaching Staff and how to resolve.
Symptoms
You have enabled RM Unify MIS Sync and you find that the staff members, who you believe to be listed as Teaching Staff in your MIS, are showing in RM Unify as Non-Teaching Staff.
It may be the case that the users were previously shown with a Teaching Staff role and have now changed to a Non-Teaching staff role.
Cause
The role 'change' occurs because the user is not set as Teaching staff in MIS. On closer inspection* of the data being pulled from your MIS, it shows that Groupcall/Integris extracts the accounts as Non-Teaching Staff.
*RM Support can check what data is being sent from Groupcall/Integris, either by remotely accessing the MIS server or by checking the MIS database we hold for the school. You may be asked for a copy of the extracted file as, due to the size, it will often not load correctly on the local server.
Please see the Requirements section below for each MIS.
If your MIS is not listed, please contact the support for your relevant MIS to ensure the required users are correctly designated as Teaching staff.
Requirements
Arbor
For Groupcall to recognise a member of staff as a Teacher, they must be assigned an appropriate business role. For more detailed information, please see TEC8560273 in Other Useful Articles below.
Integris
A staff user requires an UDI attribute of TeachingStaff, otherwise they will be identified as a non-teaching staff user. For more detailed information, please see article TEC6262626 in the Other Useful Articles section below.
ScholarPack
For Groupcall to recognise a member of staff as a Teacher, a contract needs to be created in the affected user's account within ScholarPack and the Post Held and Role Identifier fields should be applied, as shown in the image below.
From the ScholarPack support article, "To edit a staff member's contract data, select the cog. The white cog allows you to add a new contract, the black cog allows you to edit an existing contract".
Please speak to your ScholarPack Support team for assistance in adding a contract, as RM do not support your MIS.
SIMS
In SIMS, under the Employment Details tab, the Teaching Staff box needs to be ticked, as shown in the image below.
You may also need to add a 'Teaching Category' for the change to save. Please speak to your SIMS Support team for assistance, if required.
Procedure
When MIS Sync runs next, the changes will sync to RM Unify and the updated role will be applied; the account will be displayed as Teaching Staff.
