Error for 'Domain name DNS verified by Google' when attempting to federate Google Workspace to RM Unify
Published Date : 02 Mar 2020   Last Updated : 04 Oct 2024   Content Ref: TEC7226558

Symptoms

Logged on as an RM Unify super admin, you are attempting to federate Google Workspace to RM Unify using the Google Workspace federation wizard. In the 'Set up' page titled 'Give RM Unify permission to manage your Google Workspace organisation & do a compatibility check', you enter the Google consent code and click Next to progress.

At this point, you receive a 'X' against the check named 'Domain name DNS verified by Google', which indicates that this check has failed.

Cause

One reason for this check to fail is that your Google Workspace domain is already configured with the third-party identity provider (IdP) settings for another IdP product or service. This third-party product or service may currently be, or has been in the past, provisioning users and/or groups, synchronising passwords, providing authentication services, ADFS etc.

Requirements

Perform the following Procedure only if you understand the implications of removing the third-party identity provider settings from your Google Workspace domain and if you have authorisation and consent to do so. Removing these settings will end whatever authentication and/or user management is in place with your third-party product/service.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Google Admin console as a Google Workspace super admin.
  2. In Search, find and select 'SSO with third-party IDPs'.
  3. In the right-hand panel, select 'Third-party profile for your organization' and ensure that the 'Set up SSO with third-party identity provider' box is clear.
  4. Ensure that the 'Sign-in page URL' and 'Sign-out page URL' fields are clear - RM Unify will attempt to populate these URL fields as part of the federation. If you are unsure about these settings, it is advised to make a record of the URLs, in case they need to be replaced.
  5. Click Save to save any changes that have been made.
  6. Return to RM Unify and retry the Google Workspace federation wizard.
