Deleting a policy

You cannot delete policies that are currently assigned to computers or users.

To delete a policy

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Registry Policies icon Registry Policies, and then expand either Picture of the Computer Policies icon Computer Policies or Picture of the User Policies icon User Policies. You may need to expand folders in the left-hand pane to display the name of the policy.

  2. From the left-hand pane, right-click the policy and from the menu, choose Delete.

  3. To confirm, click Yes.

The policy name is removed from the left-hand pane.

Notes

  • You cannot delete the Standard and System Administrator user policies, nor the Shared Desktop computer policy.

  • Before you delete it, you can export the current version of the policy for safe-keeping.

  • To delete a selected policy, you can also choose Picture of the Delete button in the toolbar.
