Resolving a setting conflict

A conflict occurs when the same setting used in different registry files is set to different values. This is most likely to occur when you have added a custom setting; when you save your changes, if a conflict is detected the Conflicts window is displayed. The Conflicts window lists all the registry keys.

To resolve the conflict, you must locate the conflicted setting manually and change it as required.

To resolve a setting conflict

  1. If the Conflicts window is not displayed, click the Conflicts button in the right-hand pane.

  2. In the Conflicts window, expand each registry key to view its sources and values until you find the settings with conflicting values.

  3. Close the Conflicts window.

  4. To resolve the conflict, do one of the following:

  1. Click Save.

  2. If the Conflicts window is displayed again, repeat step 3 until you can save without conflict.
