Registry Policies > Managing Policies > View orphan settings
An orphan setting is a registry policy setting with no known origin. When you choose to exclude a category from your registry policies, it does not remove settings that are already applied; these settings become orphan settings. You can view the orphan settings for each registry policy category in the right-hand pane.
From the left-hand pane, expand Registry Policies, and then expand either
Computer
Policies or
User Policies. You may need to expand folders
in the left-hand pane to display the name of the policy.
From the left-hand pane, select the policy.
From the right-hand pane, at the bottom of the Categories list, choose Orphan Settings.
In the right-hand pane, to view a setting and its value, expand each item.
