As part of the Import Wizard, this window enables you to manage the rule sets controlling the source data you are importing. You can:
Add or delete rules.
Preview the impact a specific rule will have on the source data before you import it.
For example, you could use rules to generate usernames: if your establishment wants the first 3 letters of your first name, followed by a full stop, followed by the last 3 letters of your last name, you would add a rule which combined the 'First n Letters' + Fixed String (the full stop) + 'Last n Letters'.
On the Edit Rule window, an individual rule box displays. Complete it as follows:
Select a rule from the drop-down list. (In our example, 'First n Letters'.)
Select a column from the drop-down list. The user property you selected in the Mapping section will be mapped to the selection you make here. You can use a combination of columns from your imported file to assign to a property. (In our example, the first and last names may be in different columns but you can combine them for the username.)
If you selected the 'First n Letters' or 'Last n Letters' rule at step 1, type a length for n. (In our example, 3.)
If you selected the 'Fixed String' rule at step 1, type a value.
If your rule contains letters and you want to control case-sensitivity, select an instruction from the Case drop-down list.
To ensure uniqueness, tick the box. (In our example, if there are two users with the names David Peterson and David Linkeson, so that they would not both have the username DavSon, tick the box to create DavSon and DavSon1.)
To create another rule, click the Add button, and repeat from step 1.
To delete a rule, select the appropriate rule box, and click the Delete button.
When you have added all your rules, click OK to return to the Mapping window. If problems are found mapping the data according to the rules you have added, a message window displays. Click OK to return to the Edit Rule window to change the rule(s) to fix the problem.
When you have entered all your rules, without error, click the Import button.
A progress bar displays while the imported data is being validated.
