Creating a linked list

A list linked to a security group can contain a collection of users and computers stored within a group.

When you link a list to a security group, the information in the list is refreshed each time you access the list. When the list of items you want already exists as a security group, you do not need to duplicate the list. Any change to the group membership is automatically reflected in the list; and adding members to the list also adds them to the security group.

To create a linked list

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand the tree view until you have chosen the option under which you want to place your new linked list. For example, to create a new linked list for computers, choose Computers.

  2. From the File menu, choose New, Linked List.

  3. Type a name for the linked list

  4. Choose the Link tab.

  5. To link the list to a new security group:

  1. To link the list to an existing security group, select the required security group from the list.

  2. Click OK.

For more information about security groups, refer to Security Groups Help.

Notes

  • To get the latest list of groups, click the Refresh button.

  • You can link a specific list to only one security group, although you can link several different lists to the same security group.
