Creating a single user

When you create a single user, you specify their username, template and server. You can then proceed to configure the rest of their user properties.

To create a single user

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Users icon Users.

  2. Right-click the appropriate user list and from the menu, choose New User. The template and server details are pre-filled; this information is determined by the selected user folder.

  3. Type a username. This is the user's logon name, and the name of the user's network account. It must be unique across your establishment. If you use, or intend to use, RM EasyLink, the username should not be longer than 20 characters (short username).

  4. To select a different template to apply to the user, select it from the Template drop-down list.

  5. To select a different server for the user, select it from the Server drop-down list.

  6. Optionally, to be able to edit the new user's properties immediately, tick the 'Edit immediately' box.

  7. Click OK.

When you ticked the 'Edit immediately' box in step 6, the User Properties window for the new user is displayed.

Notes

  • You can create multiple users with the same user properties by choosing Bulk Create Users from the Tools menu.

  • To create a new user, you can also choose Picture of the New button in the toolbar, and from the menu choose New, or from the File menu choose New, User.

  • You can also carry out this task from the RM Management Console Start page. Click the Users icon and, from the list of tasks, select 'Create a new user'.
