Specifying a user's initial password

When you have a lot of new users to create at the same time, for example at the beginning of the academic year, you can create a template, and then create users based on that template. In this case, you might want to specify a generic initial password for all the new users which they can then change.

To specify a user's initial password

  1. From the left-hand pane, expand Picture of the Users icon Users and choose Picture of the User templates icon User Templates.

  2. From the right-hand pane, right-click the user template you want to use and from the menu, choose Properties.

  3. Choose the Rights tab.

  4. In the Password section, type the initial password.

  5. To ensure the new users change this initial password when they next log on:

  1. Click OK.

Notes

  • When RM Password Plus is installed, your establishment's password rules are displayed.

  • User template properties are also available by selecting the user template and choosing Picture of the Properties button in the toolbar, or by double-clicking the user template in the right-hand pane.
