Exporting a configuration data file

The settings for your control sets and access levels can be saved as a configuration data file for re-use at a later date. When you export a configuration data file, it contains the settings which have been created for the whole week. Configuration data files have a .iam file extension.

You might want to have different Internet settings for week 1 and week 2. You can create the settings for week 1 and save them in the file week1.iam, and then create the settings for week 2 and save them in the file week2.iam. You can then import the files week1.iam or week2.iam on alternate weeks rather than having to continually recreate or change the different configuration settings. Or you might want to save settings for different circumstances to be imported when required, for example examination settings.

To export a configuration data file

  1. From the left-hand pane, choose Picture of the Internet Access icon Internet Access. The current Internet timetable is displayed in the right-hand pane.

  2. From the toolbar, click the Picture of the Export button Export button, and from the sub-menu choose Internet Access Configuration.

  3. Browse to the location where you want to store the configuration data file.

  4. Type a file name.

  5. Click Save.

Notes

  • Changes made to the configuration do not come into effect until you click the Apply button.

  • If you try to navigate to another area of the RM Management Console (for example, Users or Computers) after making changes, you will be asked whether you want to apply the changes.

  • You can also export a configuration data file by choosing Export, Internet Access Configuration from the File menu.
