You can assign one or more packages to individual computers, or a group of computers. For example, you might want to assign several required packages to a new staff member's laptop, or a product update to all the computers which have previously installed that product.
When you assign a package or product to a computer, it is installed on the selected computer in the background.
After you have selected the package(s) or product(s) to be assigned, you can also use the Assign Packages window to add further packages to the assignment list, or remove packages from the list. When the 'Automatically manage...' box is clear, you can re-order the list.
Before you assign a package to a large number of computers, and especially before assigning an MS-DOS or 16-bit program, we recommend that you assign and test it first on a single computer to check for compatibility and ensure there are no problems before assigning it to other computers.
From the left-hand pane, expand Software, then expand
Packages & Products.
Choose All Packages, or All Products.
From the right-hand pane, right-click the package or product and from the menu, choose Assign.
If you want to add more packages or products to the assignment list:
Under Packages and Products, click the Add button.
In the 'Select items to add' tree view, choose Software, Packages & Products, All Packages or All Products.
From the 'Available items' list, select the packages or products you want to assign.
Click OK.
To remove a package or product from the Packages and Products list, select the package or product and click the Remove button.
Under 'Target computers', click the Add button.
In the 'Select items to add' tree view, choose Computers, All Computers.
From the 'Available items' list, select the computers you want to assign the package to.
When you have selected all required computers, click the OK button.
Click OK.
