The Registry Policies option enables you to manage and
change settings that apply to computers and users across your network.
These settings give you control over your network allowing you to override
a computer's local or a user's personal policy settings.
The order the policies are applied will determine which settings will take priority: the most recent policy settings override earlier settings.
Each policy is given a descriptive name and a longer description. This information is displayed in the right-hand pane in the Registry Policy window for a selected policy.
The settings contained within a policy are grouped together into a number of categories, and a category is a collection of settings: there may be several categories within an individual policy.
The Registry Policies option provides the following types of policies:
Computer
policies
A computer policy is a set of rules that defines the features and functions
that are available on a computer.
User
policies
A user policy is a collection of settings that defines the user's desktop
and working environment to control what they can and cannot do on the
network, and the features and functions that are available to them. It
includes the Internet & Email Settings policy to control users' access
to the Internet and email.
Software
restriction policies
These are located in the Software option and control a user's ability
to run program files.
